Students First: In Stratosphere, Fullan (2013) expresses Steve Job’s belief that true innovation stems from focus on the customer and not the device. Job accredits the success of Apple to this principle, a principle that not only applies to the corporate world but the classroom as well. Will Richardson (2013) reminds us that the focus should not be on what we should buy but rather on what we want our students to learn in order to prepare them for the future, it is not important what tools we bring into the class but how we implement them.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School’s vision for learning and instructional technology is based on the 21st century learning skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, and creativity and innovation. Fullan (2013), identified six skills necessary for the development of the whole student. These six Cs include: character education; citizenship; communication; critical thinking and problem solving skills; collaboration; and creativity and imagination.
